Deliveroo

Current project - a work in progress

A 'Work in Progress' campaign, designed to etch Deliveroo as the most unforgettable food delivery experience.

My strategy focuses on captivating visuals that narrate a story, paired with memorable, catchy headlines to resonate with the audience.

Three scenes showing places you would keep a chapstick - in the car, in your bag and on your desk at home.

TryHackMe

Hands-on Creative Design Manager

Most of my work from my time at THM does not have permission to be in my portfolio, so I have picked out just a few that combined show-off the brand’s unique visual identity, illustration style and animation usage. These are some examples of my hands-on pieces.

For more pieces that are public, you can view some of my latest work shared on my LinkedIn shared/featured posts, or the tryhackme.com training rooms.

One of many email designs - this is from our onboarding workflow.

Social media animation

About my latest role:

Being the first ever in-house designer, I built the Creative Design department from the ground up and lead an established, highly in-demand department that works alongside every team to produce consistent, high-quality pieces of artwork, designs and animations.

The journey to building this department included creating the brand identity guidelines and developing the illustration style, leading department hiring efforts, setting up design workflow processes, project management internally and externally, building strong relationships between Design and other departments (Marketing, Sales, Product, Content Engineers and the Founders) who we collaborated closely with, and much more. The end result was myself leading a small team of designers whilst maintaining a balance of being hands-on with the design work.

Illustration projects

Conceptualising visions through unique compositions and immersive worlds” As well as showing illustration skills, these pieces are great examples of art direction and conceptualising creative visions. A mixture of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop were used to create these worlds. One of my favourite parts of creating these is the reaction I got from the public… a common comment was how these worlds brought people calm and made them feel at peace, whilst at the same time transporting them to a vast and beautiful world. This was a huge moment for me in realising how powerful artwork and designs can be when done right, both for inspiration and influencing emotions.

An illustrated scene showing a field of flowers, in the background is a black portal filled with stars and a small person beneath. There are multiple shooting stars.
An illustrated scene showing a huge beautiful night sky, fluffy pink clouds and a shooting star. There's rolling hills and a silhouette of a person stood in the foreground.
An illustrated scene made up of greenery, trees and hills. An odd-shaped character walks in the background in front of white clouds.

How did these pieces make others feel?

"Your landscapes bring such peace"
"I love how big your work feels! I just want to surround myself in it"
"Someone needs to make a film with these aesthetics"
"Wow these are so clean and relaxing, Nic!"
"Ooooh! Your pieces have this unique feeling. I just love to stare at them"
"Never get bored of seeing your unique style"
"I really love the feeling of your work. It's hard to describe but you manage to capture a sense of calm wonder that I really appreciate"
"I hope you will do an artbook one day"
"I always love the unique sense of depth in your pieces, your use of bright and light colors add such an interesting dimensionality to your work"
"These are inspiring! I love the color and composition of all of these!!!"
"If you're going to visit other planets, please leave some of your artwork on Earth with us. It's hard to get by a day without them"
"It's like being transported to another world. And it's the kinda world that's peaceful and homey"
"Wow!!! The expanse of space you get in these is fantastic! So beautiful!"
"Oh wow!! These are inspiring!!"
"You definitely have the ability to transport the viewer to another world. That effect of lighting on the first one with the... Orb. I love it"
